Carle Place High School’s Class of 2024 celebrated their graduation on June 28 at the Joseph F. Coady Field, with excited cheers and proud family members in attendance. The 68th annual commencement ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduates.

The students entered the field with smiles to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance.” Following the Pledge of Allegiance, student Leah Kelly sang the national anthem.

Several speakers delivered words of advice and praise to the graduates, including Superintendent Edward M. Cannone, former Board of Education Trustee Neal McLaughlin, Board of Education President Lawrence Zaino, Jr., valedictorian Jennarose Maglione, salutatorian Douglas Lin and Student Organization President Logan Martins. Music students treated the audience to a lively performance of Dance to the Music by Sylvester Stewart.

Class of 2024 President Tatiana Castillo spoke, followed by the farewell address from Sehaj Singh. Finally, retiring Principal Thomas DePaola addressed the students, sharing his reflections and heartfelt message. “Count on Family, Faith, and Friends,” he said. “Live your life, go out and try something new. Jump into the water, just go for it, stop hesitating, no timidity, no regrets!”

After receiving their diplomas, the graduates were guided by Principal DePaola in shifting their tassels from right to left, symbolizing the completion of their high school journey. With diplomas in hand, the students returned to their seats and joyfully celebrated the milestone by tossing their caps into the air.

Students in grades 9-12 at Carle Place High School recently showcased their competitive spirit and community dedication by participating in the annual Battle of the Classes: Battling for a Cause event. Organized by the Student Organization and the Key Club, this year’s event focused on raising funds for the Autism Society.

The students engaged in a series of fun and challenging games including volleyball, an obstacle course, Just Dance, relay races, quizbowl, ultimate frisbee, basketball, bubble ball, and tug of war. In addition to the spirited competition, participants made a pledge to Choose to Include. This campaign, sponsored by the Special Olympics, promotes inclusivity in all aspects of life, especially in school events.

The event was a remarkable success, with students collectively raising over $11,000 for the Autism Society throughout the 2023-2024 school year. The funds were gathered through the Battle of the Classes event and the Dancing with the Frogs initiative, demonstrating the students' commitment to making a positive impact in their community.
